Thousands of healthcare workers walked off the job this morning to protest contract proposals they said stifle their voices in patient care.
Cars jammed the driveway of Saint Louise Regional Hospital and truck drivers blasted their horns in support of more than 100 local union members striking against proposals handed down by the Daughters of Charity Health System. More than 2,000 workers part of the Service Employees International Union, United Healthcare Workers are striking against the DOCHS throughout the state.
