May 18, nine young women vied for the right to be the 2008 Miss Gilroy Garlic Festival.
The young women each gave a speech, performed a talent exhibition, and donned evening gowns to answer a surprise question. In the end, a panel of five judges chose Ariele Combs of Gilroy as the new queen.
