Tryouts for a new independent professional baseball league called Desert Fall Ball 2015 will be held Aug. 30 at Seaside High School, 2200 Noche Buena, Seaside.
Tryouts will begin with position players registering at 8 a.m. and pitchers at 10 a.m. Live hitting will start around 11 a.m.
Desert Fall Ball has four teams in the southwest: three in Arizona and one in California. The league hopes to target players have never been signed, were overlooked in college for various reasons, were not drafted despite stellar play or are looking to play in the Fall to further their skills.
A coaching staff will be made up of ex-MLB players and coaches and others with experience at the professional level.
The season will consist of 48 games, begining in late September 2015 and running through November, finishing the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Players will recieve a salary for playing for the duration of the season when signed.
Tryouts cost $100 and should be made payable to Jim Hayes that morning by cashiers check, money order or cash. To register, recieve information, history and be placed on the day’s roster email [email protected].
