Cencal crowned D-league champs

GILROY - Cencal Autobody capped a regular-season title in the Men's Fall D League with a 15-9 win over Blackout Window Tinting Tuesday at Las Animas Park.

Cencal will open the Playoff Night series against Blackout in two weeks. Gamers In Control will face third-seed Players in the post-season opener.

Mike Richey went 5-for-5 and Chris Peckham laced a three-run home run for Cencal (7-1). Matt Elam homered and tripled for Blackout (5-3).

The Players reached 5-3 with a 27-12 victory over the Titans.

Robert Pena went 5-for-5 and scored five Player runs. Robert Tankersley went 4-for-4 and scored four runs. Ryan Romero stroked a double and two singles for the Titans.

Gamers In Control (5-3) topped Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 12-8 by striking for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning. Jason Mesa hit a three-run triple in the Gamers seventh. Josh Torres tripled and singled for Pacific Coast Bail Bonds.

Los Pistoleros finished the Men's DD League at 8-0 with a 15-0 blanking of Gilroy Screen Printing Wednesday.

Zeke Lopez hit a grand slam and Eddie Flores added a triple and two singles for the winners.

The Bomb Squad reached 5-3 with a 21-10 nod over the Royals. Ryan Bell went 5-for-5 for the Bombers. Tom Shaver tripled and singled for the Royals.

Team Wicked earned a post-season spot with a 15-9 win over the Loco Boys. Paul Perez homered and Armando Hernandez went 3-for-4 for Wicked. Bobby Lucio went 3-for-4 for the Loco Boys.

C&R Communications remained in second place in the Men's Fall C League standings Monday after a 14-4 decision over Tax Systems.

Chuck Flores went 4-for-4, Chris Bowles 4-for-5 for 5-2 C&R. Joel Valdivia went 3-for-4 for Tax Systems (4-3).

Lzoano's Dirty Ghetto Boys upset DS Builders 28-14 behind a 6-for-6 showing by Louis Bobadilla. Don Rose homered and Isaiah Gonzalez went 5-for-6 for Lozano's. Sal Flores went 5-for-5 for DS Builders.

Note: Registration is being accepted through Tuesday Oct. 14 for the Tony Sanchez 'Mr. Softball' Invitational Co-Rec Softball Tournament scheduled for Oct. 18-19 in Santa Clara.

The annual event will include D and E caliber teams for the double-elimination play. Games will be played at Central Park and Mission College.

The tournament entry fee is $149. Champions receive a sponsor trophy and souvenir t-shirts. Funds raised from the event will be used to help establish a scholarship in Tony's name to be administered by South Bay SANCRA.
