Three of Gilroy Little League's softball teams went perfect over the weekend, as the Girls Majors, Girls Minors, and the 11-year-old squad combined for a 7-0 record.

The Girls Minors (9- and 10-year-olds) put on perhaps the most impressive showing of all three local teams by defeating the Redwood All-Stars 5-0 Saturday in Manteca, and then posting a 16-0 win Sunday over the All Cities All-Stars. All together, Gilroy played 10 innings, scored 21 runs and saw no-hitters tossed in both games to go with 24 strikeouts.

Lauren Castro pitched a no-hit shutout in the first game, while also helping her cause at the plate with a line drive to right field in the fourth inning, followed by a hit by Brook Loesch. After a double-steal that put runners on second and third, Alli Hathaway crushed a ball to right field to bring in two runs to start the charge.

Gilroy's offense and defense was even more effective in the next game. Anna Gamboa (3-for-4) and Mackenzie Holt combined for the shutout on the mound, with Gamboa recording eight strikeouts in three innings. Batters such as Karli Martinez, Castro, and Julia Chizanskos (4-for-4) were excellent as well. The Minors will play undefeated Martinez - the defending champs - today in Manteca for the Northern California Division II title.

Gilroy's Girls Majors went 3-0 over the weekend in Sacramento, beating Red Bluff 12-6 on Friday, Consumnes River 5-2 on Saturday and Clayton Valley 13-4 on Sunday. Pitchers Raeanna Covarrubias, Angelica Carillo and Holly Lam earned victories in those games, respectively.

Mariza Rodriguez had four RBIs against Red Bluff and two against Clayton Valley. Other standout batters from the win over Clayton Valley included: Adrianna Ortega (4-for-4), Covarrubias (2-for-3, RBI), Kaslin Ettema (1-for-2, RBI), Michaela Zertuche (1-for-2, RBI) and Brianna Perez (2 RBIs). The team will play the winner of Red Bluff and Clayton Valley in the double-elimination final.

The bats of Gilroy's 11-year-old team were on fire in two games, helping to earn a 14-1 win over Suisun and an 18-15 win against Parkway. Results from Monday's state final game, a rematch against Parkway, were unavailable as of press time.

Sam De La Torre pitched the victory over Suisun and Brittney Souza got the win against Parkway. Top hitters from each of those games included Emma Leach hitting a triple, home run and two doubles against Suisun, and Nicole Green compiling a triple and three doubles against Parkway.
