Giants move into tie for fourth

May 7, 2008
 By Dispatch Sports Staff

The Giants dropped the Diamondbacks 9-4 in a boys majors divisional contest Saturday.

The victory was the fourth of the season for the Giants, moving them into a tie for fourth place. The D-Backs remain in third place.

Brendan Reimer pitched his best game of the season so far, throwing a complete game by allowing four runs on six hits, and striking out nine with no walks.

The Giants had 11 hits in the game, led by Willie Fritter who was 3-for-3 with 2 RBI.

The defense also had a solid effort with first baseman Gab Hernandez getting seven put outs. Short Stop Travis Moulden made the play of the day, snagging a hard hit line drive.

Catcher Willie Fritter threw out a runner trying to steal third with Andrei Arroyo applying the tag, Phillip Castro made three nice plays on ground balls hit to second and Brendan Reimer also made two nice plays on grounders hit back to him at pitcher.

Reimer was 2-for-3, Matthew Alexander was 2-for-3, Gab Hernandez was 1-for-1 (2 RBI, 1 BB), Andrei Arroyo was 1-for-2 (1 RBI, 1 BB), TJ Cox was 1-for-1 and Travis Moulden finished 1-for-3.
