School board's 3-hour meeting list – question is now what?

Last month I read Sara Suddes' article about the school board's goal setting meeting where they hammered out six goals for the future. To recap, they are:

-#1 Increase student achievement throughout the district in all subgroups

-#2 Enhance fiscal accountability that ensures sound fiscal management

-#3 Recruit and retain a highly qualified work force

-#4 Ensure facilities provide equitable and sound learning environment

-#5 Keep schools safe and orderly

-#6 Improve communication within board and with stakeholders.

My first reaction was, did they really need a special three hour meeting and a consultant to come up with their basic job description?
