Intelligent Design trumps evolution
Aug 10, 2005

Dear Editor,

Thank you James Brescoll for your recent letter, motivating me to write about my favorite subject ... evolution.

I just love shucking and jiving, so here it goes. You write, "the unique reality about the 'evolutionary' research is based on specific discoveries coupled with logical interpretations open to challenge and improvement." Look who's "shucking and jiving.

Brescoll is shucker champion par excellence. The concept of evolution is the greatest fraud and hoax ever perpetrated upon Western civilization. What makes evolution so endearing is that it is the foundation of the religion "humanism."

Evolution is to humanism what the Bible is to Christianity. With "humanism" there is no God, no Hell (Hot dog! I can do my own thing without responsibility or accountability).

Brescoll claims intelligent design is nothing more than creationism dressed up to fool the folks. He's not far from being right as intelligent design is more compatible with creationism than with evolution.

That similarity is what upsets the evolutionist. There is overwhelming evidence for intelligent design and it is recognized by many scientists. Brescoll asks for names. To start, there is Wemer van Braun, a German rocket scientist. Van Braun said, "Design and order in the universe is necessary to allow the launching and to recovery of satellites, to place a man on the moon or on a space station."

Next is Michael Behe, a microbiologist at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, who said, "There's evidence for design in molecular machines that defy explanation by Darwinian natural selection. These integrative, complex systems in biological organisms are irreducibly complex. It is virtually impossible for evolution by mere chance to create such complexity. These biological systems look designed because they were designed."

One last note, evolutionists. We often mislead people by confusing adaptation with evolution. Adaptation is micro change, and evolution is macro change.

There is a vast difference. For many years most biology textbooks cited the spotted moth in London as evidence for evolution. The white moth was exposed when on the darkened tree trunk - darkened by the high pollution from factory chimneys.

So the moth became almost black, and that was called evolution or survival of the fittest. However when the air pollution was eliminated, the black moth returned to white. That change in the moth from white to black and then black to white was adaptation, not evolution as proclaimed in biology textbooks.

The same holds true for bacterial immunity to the antibiotic. Remove the antibiotic and you'll find the bacteria safe and sound. It was adaptation. The best illustration of adaptation is the jack rabbit in South Dakota. He is white in winter and brown in summer. Again, it is adaptation - it is the same rabbit all year round.

There is evidence for Intelligent Design everywhere. Open your eyes: note the solar system, the honeybee, the beautiful rose. Do you think this beautiful world arose out of a primordial slime millions of years ago when two molecules accidentally fused to create life? Life in all respects is by design, designed with a purpose.

Do you know the purpose of your life?

Joseph G. McCormack, Gilroy
