Scott Hudson, 52 of Los Gatos, was driving a 2002 Honda motorcycle when he collided head-on with a 1995 Honda Accord, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred about 3:35 p.m. Monday.

The driver of the Honda, Michael Eazana, 22 of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter.

The CHP accident report says Eazana, who had a passenger in his vehicle, was driving southbound on Uvas Road, north of the intersection of Little Uvas Road, at high speed. Hudson was driving at "unknown speed" northbound on Uvas Road, and he collided into the front of the Accord when the passenger vehicle crossed over the double lines.

Hudson was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries at the accident scene.

The Santa Clara County Coroner was called to the scene about 4:05 p.m.

When the two vehicles collided, the motorcycle caught on fire, causing the Accord to ignite. The resulting flames spread to nearby trees. CalFire responded to extinguish the blaze, according to the CHP.

Uvas Road was blocked for about three hours following the accident.

Eazana was booked into Santa Clara County Jail. Neither he nor his passenger were injured, and both were wearing their safety belts.

On June 29, a double fatality occurred on Uvas Road when two motorcyclists collided and died. That accident was about 1.5 miles north of Little Uvas Road.

Residents of the area near Uvas Road and its intersections with Croy and Little Uvas roads lamented the frequent occurrence of major accidents and fatalities in the area. They noted that Monday's accident happened on the north side of a bridge on Uvas Road.

"We're hoping these motorcycle riders will slow down. We're tired of seeing lives lost, and it's really sad," said Gina Fisher, who lives off Croy Road near the scene of Monday's accident.
