Woman injured in rollover on Fairview RoadAround 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, a sport-utility vehicle rolled over multiple times south of the intersection of Fairview and McCloskey roads in Hollister, causing "minor to moderate injuries" to a 20-year-old woman, said San Benito County Fire Department Capt. Jim Dellamonica.
"We decided not to airlift based on the ambulance's assessment," he said, adding that the extent of the injuries will not be known until she is admitted to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital.
California Highway Patrol officers declined to comment on what happened during the accident other than to say the vehicle rolled over.
The green GMC vehicle went through a white, wooden fence on the west side of Fairview Road and ended up on its side with the hood pointing eastward. Most of the windows in the SUV were broken, and there was damage to the hood and front grill.
Responding to the scene were members from the Calfire/San Benito County Fire Department, the CHP and emergency service technicians with American Medical Response.
Stabbing suspects accused of attempted murder, kidnapping
Prosecutors have charged two Castroville women on suspicion of attempted murder and two counts of kidnapping each in connection with a stabbing in San Juan Bautista after which a woman was left near Highway 156.
The victim, age 34, was stabbed the night of June 13 all over her body and left near the highway near Monterey Street, where she stayed overnight before being discovered near the shoulder the following morning. She was airlifted to a Bay Area hospital and survived.
The sheriff's office, with the help of the Watsonville Police Department, arrested the two suspects last week. They are Lynda J. Hernandez, 39, and Sadie Stephens, 18. The district attorney's office on Tuesday filed charges against each alleging attempted murder and kidnapping, along with special allegations with all the counts accusing them of taking part in a violent street gang act.
Both suspects have pleaded not guilty to the charges, while their respective bail amounts remain at $500,000, according to court records. They will be in court again for a preliminary setting at 9 a.m. July 16, according to records.
