Three men were arrested and an additional man is being sought for arrest after a police officer stumbled upon a gang fight in downtown Gilroy.
About 5:15 p.m. Saturday, an unspecified officer saw a man being attacked by at least four men - two of whom had "stabbing instruments" - on the 7100 block of Monterey Road, police said. The men then fled from the scene.
Police nabbed San Jose resident Ricardo Montoya, 19, as he was trying to leave, and then coordinated a search of the 7200 blocks of Monterey and Eigleberry streets to find the remaining attackers, police said. During the search, police caught San Jose resident Celso Flores, 22, and Gilroyan Julio Larios, 20. All three men were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, commission of a gang crime and probation violation.
A fourth man escaped police, who described him only as a Hispanic male.
The man being attacked - a 20-year-old Hispanic male - was stabbed, but his injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
