The race for one of the spots on the school board is so close, the county registrar plans to hold a recount.
Only three votes stand between incumbent Jaime Rosso and former trustee Mark Good, whose lead over Rosso has shrunk with every update. Since the margin of victory is less than 0.5 percent, the registrar will conduct a manual recount. The registrar randomly selected 10 percent of Gilroy Unified School District's 41 precincts Thursday, for a recount that will begin 9 a.m. Monday in public view.
As of Thursday afternoon, Good had garnered 8,250 votes and Rosso had 8,247. Newcomer Fred Tovar had 9,437 and incumbent Rhoda Bress had 8,305.
According to the registrar's Web site, about 5,000 provisional ballots were left to be tallied countywide.
