Ascencion Solorsano Middle School science teacher Dawn O'Connor will be recognized with 30 other Santa Clara County educators, for her excellence in the classroom, commitment to professional development and dedication to students, school and community, 7 p.m. Monday at the Heritage Theatre in Campbell.

The program is put on by the Santa Clara County Office of Education. Charles Weis, county superintendent of schools, and Carl Guardino, president and chief executive officer of Silicon Valley Leadership Group, will act as masters of ceremonies.

As deputy superintendent, Dritz will oversee the Center for Educational Planning department, a charter school support unit and occupational programs, and will earn $197,500 annually.

Rod Kelley Parent Club elects new board, unveils new Web site

The Rod Kelley Parent Club, a volunteer-led, non-profit organization at Rod Kelley Elementary School, recently elected a new board of directors who have unveiled a new web site.

"For the first time in many years, we have all board positions filled and a group of excited volunteers ready to make it a great year for students and staff," said Rod Kelley Elementary School principal Luis Carrillo.

"It was important to open lines of communication with our parents and community so the Web site was the obvious first job to tackle," said Stephanie Gonzalez, co-president, who has 7-year-old son attending the school.

The new Web site, at www.RodKelley.com, features information on the school, the new bell schedule, contact information for all the staff and information on the Parent Club. The Parent Club has many events, fundraisers and activities planned for the year, including the annual Rod's Trod.

The Parent Club's general meetings are typically held the third Wednesday of the month and are open to all school parents and guardians. However, the first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, in the multi-purpose room.
