First grader Michelle Weipy, 6, says hello to her former kindergarten teacher, Sister Bobbi Green, before school began at St. Mary School Monday morning.
St. Mary School kicked off a new school year with about 285 kindergarten through eighth grade students.
Principal Christa Hanson was pleased to see many parents dropping off their students and staying to catch up over coffee and refreshments sponsored by the school's Mother's Guild.
This year's theme, "I am with you always," will guide the students, she said.
"It's so exciting to see the history carrying on and the generations returning," said Hanson, in her 19th year as principal.
