Serve on Measure E oversight committee

Volunteers are needed to serve on the Gavilan College Measure E Citizen's Oversight Committee. Seats are open for a senior citizen representative and a representative from a taxpayer group.

On March 2, 2004, voters approved $108 million in general obligation bonds for Gavilan College facilities by passing Measure E. As required by Proposition 39, the bond committee is charged with ensuring that revenues from Measure E are spent as promised.

The committee's role is to review and report on district spending of taxpayer money for construction and to provide a public accounting of the district's compliance with legal requirements. The committee includes at-large representatives, representation from business, seniors, students, taxpayers, and the Gavilan College Educational Foundation. The committee meets quarterly at the Gavilan College campus in Gilroy.
