On March 13, the Gilroy Unified School District sent out letters to about 50 employees informing them that their services "will no longer be required for the 2008-09 school year" as the district looks at ways to close the budget deficit.In the end, using a set of "tie-breaking" criteria, the district narrowed its cut list to 20 employees, listed below. Should funds become available, some of these employees could be hired back on.
