Man shot in face on his doorstep

Mar 26, 2008
 By Christopher Quirk

When a 25-year-old man answered his front door Tuesday night, he was greeted by a teen who shot him in the face, then fired into his occupied house, police said.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, an unknown white juvenile wearing a black hat knocked on the front door of a house on the 1200 block of Pheasant Drive in northeast Gilroy, police said. A 25-year-old Hispanic man - whose name police did not release - opened the door.

The juvenile - who was estimated by witnesses as 15 years old - shot the man in the face, police said. The teen then fired several rounds into the house and ran away.

At the time of the shooting, five other people were in the living room - a 25-year-old female, a 21-year-old female, a 3-year-old female, a 1-year-old female and a 4-month-old female.

The man was taken to Saint Louise Regional Hospital, where he was treated for his wounds, police said. Police did not say if the man had been released by Wednesday morning.
