Lucas Joseph Blanchard

Lucas Joseph Blanchard was born Oct. 24, 2009 to Lisa and Nicholas Blanchard, a native of Morgan Hill. Nicholas, a second-year resident at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., delivered Lucas himself. The proud grandparents are Gerry and Debbie Blanchard of San Martin. He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces.

Leah Lauretta Barnes

Leah Lauretta Barnes was born Oct. 14, 2009 to Mallory and Randall Barnes Sr. of Hollister. She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces.

Stella Elizabeth Borello

Stella Elizabeth Borello was born Oct. 25, 2009 to Mary and Chris Borello of Morgan Hill. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces.

Avtaj Singh Khosa

Avtaj Singh Khosa was born Oct. 24, 2009 to Rani Mann and Gurwinder of Hollister. He weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces.

BIRTHDAY

Leah Giacalone

Leah Giacalone celebrated her 21st birthday with family and friends at the San Francisco Giants game on Sept. 26. Being a big fan of Lou Seal, the Giants' mascot, she was surprised with a ride along with Lou around the infield during the middle of the sixth inning with her sister, Claire. Leah has been a Giants fan as long as she can remember, going to her first game with her parents and godparents, Joe and Patty Giacalone, when she was 7 months old.

HONOR

Piano recital

A piano recital took place Oct. 24 at South Valley Community Church. The students were from Laurie Avey's Piano Studio. Composers such as Robert Vandall, Tchaikovsky, Keith Snell and James Hook were featured in genres such as classical, blues and Disney tunes.
