Socheat Seng and Mario J. Sanchez are engaged to marry Sept. 19, 2009.
Socheat, daughter of Chrea Seng and Saroeung Preap, received a bachelor's degree in communications from UC Davis and a master's degree in higher education leadership from CSU Sacramento. She is a financial aid advisor at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.
Mario, son of Mario and Sylvia Sanchez, received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from UC Davis and a master's degree in systems engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. He is a senior systems engineer at BAE SYSTEMS in Silicon Valley.
The couple will marry Sept. 19, 2009 and will celebrate their union by honoring both of their cultures. There will be a traditional Cambodian wedding ceremony followed by a Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Benedict's Church in Hollister followed by a reception at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.

Azusa Pacific University honors locals
The following students made the spring 2008 academic Deans' List at Azusa Pacific University: Nicholas J. Fong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fong, and Sarah N. Perino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Perino, all of Gilroy; Dominic V. Laing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Barrie A. Laing, and Eric S. Matsumoto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael F. Matsumoto, all of Morgan Hill.

Rocco Lombard
Rocco Vincent Anthony Lombard, an honors student and 2008 graduate of Gilroy High School, has recently achieved many honors.
In March, Rocco earned the Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. He was presented with a letter of congratulations from Gilroy Mayor Al Pinheiro for completing the Eagle Scout project, in which he lead Boy Scouts of Troop 707 in building and installing bat houses for Coyote Lake County Park.
In June, Rocco received the MESA Award for his participation in four years of the MESA Club.
He also won the $500 Stephen Michael Stramback Memorial Scholarship for his participation on the GHS golf team, the $1,000 South County Cal-SOAP Scholarship in which he was a four-year member, the $3,000 California Student Aid Commission Cal Grant and was honored with $1,500 from the Gavilan College Educational Foundation.
Rocco is currently employed as a guest service agent at the Hilton Garden Inn and will attend Gavilan College in the fall, majoring in computer science.
Kyle Sexton
Army Pvt. Kyle E. Sexton has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training.
Sexton is the son of Eddie and Pamela Sexton of Hollister.
Jessica Carlino
The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) is pleased to announce that Jessica Carlino of San Martin has been awarded with the AMHA Hunter Seat on the Flat Medal award for her outstanding performance at the recent Santa Cruz Morgan Horse Show.
In honor of this win, Jessica will receive an engraved silver medal from AMHA and is qualified to compete for the Gold Medal at the 2008 Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse Show held in Oklahoma City in October. Jessica's presence on the competitive riding circuit has been solidifying for the last several years. She participates in at least two AMHA recognized shows yearly, specifically registering herself for Hunter Seat on the Flat events.

Rutger Rainer Ben was born July 24, 2008 at Good Samaritan Hospital, San Jose to Irma and Bryan Dombrowsky of Morgan Hill. He weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces.
